Hollis donates DPV to Annapolis Project

Cross Country Distributors and Hollis Gear announce the donation of a Hollis H-160 DPV (diver propulsion vehicle) towards the ARSBC’s HMCS Annapolis Project.  This donation recognizes the massive effort – by many people from all walks of life – towards the preparation for sinking of the HMCS Annapolis.

It’s amazing to see how this one project has gathered so much interest, and raised awareness of SCUBA diving in the non-Diving community” says Kevin Kidd, National Sales Manager for Cross Country Distributors.

The ARSBC still has volunteer openings to finish the preparation work, and is hoping this donation motivates people to find some spare time to donate towards the project.  Persons interested in working directly on the HMCS Annapolis should contact the ARSBC directly at volunteer@artificialreef.bc.ca

In addition to the Hollis H-160 DPV, the winner also receives a free DPV scooter-course that may be taken at one of these participating Local Dive shops:  The Edge Diving, Ocean Quest Dive Centre, IDC, Ocean Pro or Langley Diving.

The Artificial Reef Society of BC, ARSBC (www.artificialreef.bc.ca), is a registered non-profit society based in Vancouver, British Columbia, and is a registered tax-deductible charity in Canada.  The ARSBC has no paid employees and consists of a volunteer Board of seven Directors, and hundreds of volunteers from BC, Alberta, and the north-west United States, who have worked on our projects.

“Of equal importance to us is the fact that your organization is working towards enhancing the marine environment using proven scientific and environmentally responsible methods of artificial reef development.” – Jacques-Yves Cousteau, in a letter to the ARSBC in November, 1996.

The ARSBC’s mission is to create environmentally – and economically – sustainable “artificial reefs” in British Columbia and around the world for the enjoyment of Scuba Divers, for the protection of environmentally – and historically – sensitive marine habitats. Since 1991, the ARSBC has sunk 6 ships and one Boeing 737 in the province of British Columbia, Canada!
